veganuary egg v-egg-anuary

veganuary egg

(neatly laid out pdf available on ravelry)

celebrate vegan-uary with a vegan egg
any colour you like!

it’s worked in one piece
short rows give the yolk its shape : no stuffing required
the “white” is worked outwards in the round
there’s a choice of 3 cast-off edges

i’ve used double knitting wool and 3.25mm needles (10uk / 3us)
but feel free to use thicker wool and bigger needles

i’ve used less than 3m (5g) d.k. wool for the yolk
and 20g for the white

i’ve used 7 double pointed needles,
but there’s no reason why you can’t use a circular needle ( add six markers for the increases )

the giant egg is approx 12" across

uses 4 strands of  double knitting wool held together

and is worked on 6.5mm needles

approx. 100g of white wool, and 30g of yellow
