egg-citing fried ostrich egg

uses oddments of double knitting wool and size 4mm needles

it turned out bigger than i expected
using smaller needles and thinner wool will give a smaller egg
the whole thing is about 11" across
the yolk 3"

the egg is knitted in one piece
practice short rows on a small scale for the yolk
then work round, increasing 6 times in each circle (row), for the white

all rows end with a wrap, a turn, and then slip the first stitch

wrap(slip stitch onto needle WITHOUT working; pass wool between needles; slip stitch back; pass wool back : wool is now wrapped around the stitch on the left hand needle)
turn (don't work to the end of the row, turn the needles round so that you are working the next row)
slip : pass stitch to other needle without working it
