method

i-cord covered wire for the band

leaves knitted separately and sewn on

leaves knitted on 3 needles




materials:-

3 double pointed needles size 4mm (8uk 6us)

50g green wool

50g brown wool

18” piece of plastic coated gardening wire

(might need 2 strands twisted together it needs to hold around the head )

tapestry needle to sew up




abbreviations

k1 = knit 1

m1R = make 1 stitch right

pick up the loop between the stitches with the right hand needle and knit

m1L = make 1 stitch left

pick up the loop between the stitches with the left hand needle and knit into the BACK of the loop

k2tog = knit 2 stitches together

k2togtbl = knit 2 stitches together through the back loops

s1 k2tog psso = slip 1 stitch, knit the next 2 together, then pass the slipped stitch over the k2tog stitch

i-cord = continue the next row WITHOUT TURNING by sliding the stitches to the other end of the needle









headband

cast on 4 stitches

work as an i-cord

until 18” long

cast off




(OR : cheat and use a i-cord knitting mill )







make a loop at each end of the wire (no sharp ends)

check for size : there should be a small gap at the front

insert into the knitted cord

sew up both ends

bend into a horseshoe shape








leaf make 8 (or more)

using 2 needles
